Who am I?

Hello everyone!
I am Francesco Guerra, an Italian professional photographer working on projects related to anthropology, scientific research, and outdoor adventures.
I have worked with brands such as Climbing Technology, The North Face, BMW, and I’m a contributor for The New York Times. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Photography and a background in Chemistry and Art History.

After some years where I was focused on shooting only brands and athletes out in the wild, I felt I needed to change direction with my photography: that’s when I started to look for a deeper meaning with this fascinating and hard medium.
That’s when I started to push my creativity toward other dimensions, to discover new ways of making photographs and how to build meaningful stories through images.

Who is this for?

This newsletter is for people interested in thought-provoking topics, stories from the field and in-depth discussions about being a professional creative.

In the different sections, you will find:

  • The meaning behind the lens, where I’ll be discussing the meaning of the images I make, the creative thinking behind it, and how to elevate your storytelling to a new level through the development of a personal voice.

  • Stories from the field, a selection of personal essays and stories from my work behind the camera in the commercial and editorial fields.

  • The Vision, where I’ll talk about personal projects, their state of being, photography techniques and behind-the-scenes.

  • Wisdom on paper, where I’ll discuss books - photography, philosophy and others - that contributed to my personal, creative and professional growth.
